Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation Service Project

Every year the LHU soccer team works on different service projects unannounced to many... however this year the Lady Eagles have made an extraordinary effort.

The ladies have decided to raise money for Childhood Cancer through Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. The foundation was created in 2000 when Alex Scott, a four year old suffering from childhood cancer made the decision that she wanted to help her doctors find a cure for all children with cancer by selling lemonade at her very own lemonade stand. She continued to spread her ideas and created a goal of raising 1 million dollars for cancer research - by 2004 when Alex was eight-years old that's exactly what happened and shortly after Alex passed away.

However those close to Alex keep living her dream, keep raising money and more importantly raising awareness - now, the LHU soccer team is determined to help.

For the past two weeks the ladies of the LHU soccer program have been posting flyers, sending e-mails and getting out into the Lock Haven Community raising money and publicizing the cause. This Saturday SEPTEMBER 12th the Lady Eagles have dedicated their home game vs. Gannon University to Alex's Lemonade Stand. The team will be sporting brand new jerseys just for the cause and doing their part. The goal of the project is to have the stands filled with fans wearing yellow - they will be selling yellow ALSF t-shirts for 10 dollars leading up to the game - you can get yours online (http://www.lhup.edu/w_soccer/lemonade%20tshirt.htm) or pick one up at the game - All money will be donated directly to Alex's Lemonade Stand.
